Spring 2015 Series
PennHip Hip Dysplasia
Dr. Jason Rowan, Integrative Veterinarian
Hip dysplasia is an inherited condition resulting from an improperly formed hip joint. Because the joint is loose, the dog's leg bone moves around too much, causing painful wear and tear. Hip dysplasia commonly affects larger breeds of dogs, including German shepherds, Rottweilers, retrievers, Great Danes and St. Bernards. However, dogs of all breeds and all sizes are susceptible to this inherited condition.
PennHip assessments helps breeders improve their breeding lines, and promote the quality of their dogs. Dog sport enthusiasts can also know their dog's propensity to dysplasia in advance of aging.
Dr. Jason Rowan is one of two Okanagan veterinarians certified to do PennHip Assessments. Attend this free seminar (registration is limited) to find out how PennHip can help ensure the quality of your breeding lines.
