Kelowna's 2017 Pet-friendly Pride Events
Sunday Community Picnic right outside Pandosy Vet
Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital owner Arnica and her friends at the Pandosy Village Business Association are hosting a pet-friendly, family picnic this Sunday, August 13, from 11am to 2pm, in Osprey Park, right beside our clinic! Bring your own picnic blanket and picnic lunch. There will be games for kids and some live music. Facebook event page.
IMPORTANT DOG INFO: Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome, yeah! However, if your pooch is in any way fearful or aggressive, please leave them at home. It'll be a super busy event, and we don't want any growls, tangles or mishaps. Please bring your poop bags and scoop zee poop. The city has waived the "no dogs" bylaw especially for this event; however, dogs still aren't allowed on the playground or ball diamond, so please stick to the grassy areas.
Pride Festival & Rainbow Pet Parade in City Park
Our friends at Okanagan Pride are hosting another wonderful Pride Festival in the Park on Saturday August 19, 11-4, and it's even bigger and better this year!
Of course, we will be there with our rainbow pet gear at our Pride festival booth. Look for us (Jackie and Karina!) between the beach and the grassy concert area in Waterfront Park.
The festivities start with the Pride Parade, which begins at 11am in Stuart Park. You can deck your pet in rainbows, march in the parade and then join us for music and community in Waterfront Park. And yes, we have lots of rainbow collars, bandanas, shirt and tutus to dress up for this event! Just visit our Pounce & Hound shop the week before for the best selection.
Later, there is also the annual Pooches on Parade pet parade sponsored by our friends at Tailblazers.
Register your dog here!
The pet parade starts at noon and has prizes for Best Rainbow Outfit, Most Looks Like Owner, and Best Dog to Pick Up a Date (which our dog Tully won two years ago!! Wasn't he tiny?)
More upcoming summer events...
Sunday September 24, 2017: Organic Okanagan Festival at Summerhill Winery
No pets allowed, but lots of green goodness is worth the visit! We'll be there for the umpteenth year in a row, talking herbal medicine and green pet products.
See you out and about this summer!
