Our Doctors

Dr. Jason Rowan, DVM, CVA

My Dad was a vet and I helped in the clinic when I was a young child... they say veterinarians often know if they are drawn to the profession by elementary school, and that certainly was the case for me. I spent my teenage years growing up on a farm on the prairies. I am drawn to animals... people tell me that my presence calms their cats and dogs, and I enjoy being around them just as much. Challenging cases that require a lot of research and thought make me keep learning more and more to find the best solutions for my patients.

Medicine is my passion, and I love researching new practices. I try to keep an open mind and it's opened many doors for me. The last few years, I discovered my passion for Traditional Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine has been around for so long and yet it correlates with many of our cutting edge medicinal practices - it's amazing.

At home, we have a sweet Irish wolfhound Ragna, and our twin miniature dachshunds Kaldi and Kolo.

I was very fortunate to be born and raised in Kelowna. I moved to Saskatoon to start my university career and ended up spending 8 years in the prairies! I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with both a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Bioscience, as well as my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Although Saskatoon was a beautiful city filled with wonderful people, I missed the mountain and valley lifestyle, so opted to move in order to practice in my hometown and be near my family. It is great to be back enjoying the Okanagan with my significant other and our dogs Piper and Arrow. We love going on adventures together such as camping, kayaking, and hiking!

Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital aligns perfectly with my medical approach of offering the best care options across many modalities. I love offering a range of treatment options and honing in on the best route for a particular patient. My main passions include veterinary dentistry and behaviour, as well as general wellness and preventative care to help your pets continue to thrive. I love building one on one connections with my clients and am always learning new approaches and techniques every day! I strive to make positive vet visit experiences with your pets by keeping stress levels down (usually with the help of lots of treats and cuddles!).

As an animal lover my entire life, becoming a veterinarian was the only option for me! I found my passion as a young girl growing up alongside our beloved family golden retrievers and helping them tackle their medical issues along the way. After having overcome a spinal condition myself, I knew that alternative therapies would become a big part of my veterinary career. I graduated from the University of Calgary’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program in 2015 and then completed a one-year equine internship in the Calgary area. After this, I quickly sought out additional training in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (animal chiropractic). The ability to help an animal become a happier, healthier, more agile version of themselves – no matter the age – has become my greatest joy in my veterinary career. From cats and dogs to horses, donkeys, cows, and sheep - it has been my pleasure to watch animals of all sizes thrive with alternative therapies. I am eager to continue my journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture!

After 7 years in mixed animal practice in Alberta, I am trilled to be settled back in my beautiful hometown of Kelowna!  I enjoy spending my time practicing yoga, standup paddleboarding, riding horses, climbing, and listening to music with my fabulous fiancée, our jungle of plants, and our three crazy cats – Kodi, Missy, and Squirt!

Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital was a natural fit for me. The ability to incorporate Eastern and Western medicine along with alternative therapies allows us as health care providers to cater to each individual patient’s specific needs. We consider your fur baby part of our family and can’t thank you enough for allowing us to be part of your pet’s journey through life!
