Symptoms to watch for

Back pain is a largely under-appreciated and undiagnosed condition in our animal companions. Dogs or cats that suffer from back pain may:

  • be less willing to exercise or play
  • seem stiff, sore or weak
  • have trouble with stairs
  • be less willing to jump
  • struggle to sit, lay down, or rise from a seated or prone position

Signs of acute back or neck pain may include:

  • yelping after sudden movement or being lifted
  • muscle spasms along the back or neck
  • a hunched posture or unusual head position
  • having difficulties eating or reaching their food and water bowls
  • restlessness and seeming unsettled
If your dog or cat experiences any of these symptoms, they may benefit from a chiropractic treatment!
